In 2013, depending on the progress of works around the Australian Museum, the run course will revert to the 2011 course of two laps between the Museum and the Carillon. Information on this section of the race will be updated later in the year as the conditions become clearer.

In 2012, the run leg for the Ironman 70.3 Canberra comprised three laps of a run through the CBD parklands of Canberra.

This run is generally flat with a small rise at one end as runners are on the return section adjacent to the Freeway. The run course is a mixture of tarmac and gravel.
